with rates reduced by 50% for freelances.
 Each of these courses has subsidised funding (up to 50% of cost and travel) available to suitable applicants from those working as broadcast industry freelances.
005 DIRECTING AND SHOOTING
DIGITAL SINGLE CAMERA
2 days (Subsidised cost £298)
dates: 15th - 16th April 2005     and      2nd - 3rd July 2005

A hands-on course for researchers, associate producers and new television journalists wishing to learn practical skills in shooting
with the Sony DSR 570 and PD150. In addition to basic picture and sound operation skills the course covers aperture, gain and f-stops, angles of view, back-focus, macro, focal length and zoom ratio and provides a valuable insight into composition, control of perspective
and depth of field.
009 PRACTICAL LIGHTING OPERATIONS
3 days (Subsidised cost £345)
dates: 20th - 22nd May 2005     and     15th - 17th July 2005

An intensive course using SONY DSR 570 cameras and ARRI lighting equipment which covers essential technical knowledge, the fundamentals of portraiture, studio and location lighting equipment,
use of grip and relevant methods for current working practice.
015 LOCATION SOUND RECORDING
2 days (Subsidised cost £248)
 dates: 14th - 15th May 2005     and     9th - 10th July 2005

A practical course using professional camera and sound equipment covering the essential technical knowledge and skills for determining microphone types for hard-wire and wireless use, SQN mixer set-up, operation and return-monitoring, informed choice and placing of microphones, effective working practice on location and much more.
